Duties and Responsibilities:OM specialists work to ensure that the highest standards of occupational health and safety can be achieved and maintained. While OM may involve a wide number of disciplines, it centers on preventive medicine and the management of illness, injury, and disability related to the workplace.
Salary:The median annual Physician - Occupational Medicine salary is $204,543, as of February 22, 2017, with a range usually between $178,251-$240,795, however this can vary widely depending on a variety of factors.
Education: Physicians and surgeons have demanding education and training requirements. Almost all physicians complete at least 4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and, depending on their specialty, 3 to 7 years in internship and residency programs.
Demand or need for this profession: Employment of physicians and surgeons is projected to grow 14 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Job growth is projected due to increased demand for healthcare services by the growing and aging population.
Reflection: Do you think you would like to be one? Why? Why not? I Think this is an interesting profession but i don't think i will do this job for a living.
