Certification is not required to work as a developmental disabilities nurse and because of this a student can participate in an LPN training program.

However, most developmental disabilities nurses will be involved in patient care and medication to help the developmentally delayed individual attain their maximum level of functioning and maintain optimal health. Nurses working in the developmental disabilities field may be in charge of delivering routine medications, supervising daily activities, documenting any increase in symptoms or behavioural changes that might be attributable to medications.+
Reflection: I would love to become a developmental disability nurse because love helping people. I would love to feel that feeling when you see someone that needs help especially with a disability and be able to help them. I would like to become disability nurse because i would love to work with people that have disabilities and help them make their weakness their strengths. I just want to see the people that can't do something because they aren't able to smile and show them that they are able to do anything if they really want it. That my way of seeing things that's called in a positive way. I know that the people with disabilities can fall in depression but that's why i want to let them know that they could do what they want to do i know at a point it's going to get hard and at thof the day all it matters is the smile.
